About clean eggs

In addition to the production of SPF eggs, our company produced clean eggs. The clean egg or vaccine egg is an egg with a lower immunity status than SPF eggs, and is primarily used for the production of inactivated vaccines for poultry. However, eggs of this classification are also used to produce human influenza vaccines produced using conventional technology.

The requirements for broods of laying hens producing vaccine eggs are set forth in Chapter 5.2.13 of the European Pharmacopoeia. The broods' health status was continuously monitored by clinical and laboratory tests in accordance with pharmacopoeial requirements.

Production and processing

We produced vaccine eggs between 1991 and 2024, in ever-increasing quantities. At 2016, we integrated egg production, processing, and pre-hatching at our site in Bezedek. The eggs produced by the broods are processed after collection. During processing, the eggs were disinfected and, after resting, sorted and graded by weight.

After grading, the eggs were either packaged and delivered to our customer or pre-hatched. In the case of embryonation (pre-hatching), embryonated eggs at the right stage of viability and development were delivered.

We have been producing vaccine eggs since 1991, in ever-increasing quantities. Since 2016, we have integrated egg production, processing, and pre-hatching at our site in Bezedek. The eggs produced by the broods are processed after collection. During processing, the eggs are disinfected and, after resting, sorted and graded by weight.

Delivery, quantity, genetics

Following packaging, the eggs were delivered to our partners in our own specially adapted refrigerated/heated vehicles.  

We produced between 9 and 9.5 million eggs a year, depending on the rotation. We used Novogen White Light genetics, producing high quality eggs with white shells.
