Prophyl Immunolab

Since it was founded, our company has conducted the tests necessary for the research & development and registration of pharmaceutical products.

This activity is known by the acronym CRDO (Contracted Research and Development Organisation). Today, we are the largest institute in Hungary operating in this field, offering the widest range of related services in the country.

In 2006, we moved these services to our site in Bár, which enabled us to develop this field dynamically. Ever since we have continuously expanded and improved the quality and range of our facilities and services. In 2009, we increased the livestock capacity at Bár with a further livestock facility located near the village of Dunaszekcső.

In 2018 we supplemented our CRDO services with the means to conduct laboratory tests and to manufacture biological materials, which we expanded with additional laboratory units at our headquarters.

GLP & GMP

Our testing unit has been a member of the Hungarian GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) National Program since 2007, having complied with the GLP requirements of the OGYÉI (National Institute of Pharmacy and Food Hygiene) in all audits since 2007. In the past, batch release testing of veterinary vaccines was also carried out at our site in Bár. We also obtained GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification for these tests.

The Dr. József Marek Veterinary Laboratory has been GLP-certified since 2020.

In addition to conventional and biosecurity level 2 facilities, we also have a number of animal houses and isolators suitable for studies of SPF status.

Uniquely in Hungary, we also have biosecurity level 3 animal houses, where we can work with pathogens of high pathogenicity, such as avian influenza, poultry plague or the African swine fever virus.

The laboratory tests related to the projects are carried out in the on-site laboratory and in the Dr. József Marek Animal Health Laboratory, opened in Mohács in 2019. Since the new laboratory opened, laboratory testing has become an integral part of our CRDO activities, which have thus grown to become a much more complex set of services.

As per Directive 2010/63/EU, we have a Workplace Animal Welfare Body consisting of two veterinarians, an investigator, an assistant and an animal technician.

We are committed to maximising and improving animal welfare. We believe that the health, wellbeing and general condition of the animals in our care are crucial to the successful and scientifically sound performance of our work. 

In our work, we comply with the relevant legislation, international scientific recommendations and standards, and the expectations of our clients. In all our work, we strive to apply the "3 R-s" principle (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). We expect our staff to be prepared, vigilant and proactive in providing the most comfortable conditions for the animals in their care.
